The other three gospels started with Christ's birth and childhood. What is different about the beginning of John's account? Why do you think that he felt like this account would be of importance? Why is it important for you to know these things?

See you all bright and early tomorrow! Please remember to be on time :)

Both Zacharias and Mary were visited by an angel and given bold declarations. How did they each react? How were their blessing affected by their acceptance of the invitations given by Gabriel? While reading through the story of Christ's suffering in Gethsemane, see if you can locate the differences in Mark's account, from Matthew's which we have already gone over. If you need a refresher, you can compare to Matthew 26. What can we learn from these differences in accounts?

Mark 2 and 3

Hello All :)

You all were great today, sharing your testimonies and answers. I always appreciate your participation :)

Your reading for tonight is:

Matthew 1:35
Matthew 2:23 through Matthew 3:6

We talked today about how to remain spiritually whole and not let ourselves become "disabled". In your reading, you will see of two examples that the Savior gives us of how we can specifically grow spiritually. What are these two examples? Have you gained a testimony of these things? Maybe if you are feeling especially brave, you might share them with us tomorrow. The best way for us to grow is from each other, not me just talking your ears off :)

Hope to see you all tomorrow!

Mark 1

We have finished Matthew! Give yourselves a pat on the back :) Matthew was all about speaking to the Jews, reminding them of prophecies that were given to try and convince them that Jesus was the Christ. Mark, however, spends his time talking to the gentiles, and spends most of his time talking about Christ's miracles.

Mark's account is the shortest of all the gospels, which may actually make it easier for you to read. He is to the point and is outright with what happened, rarely going into much detail.

Read through:

Mark 1 and 2

And find the miracles that Mark talks about. Did we learn about these miracles being done in the book of Matthew? Why does it help us to read through Mark even though most of his account can be found in the other 3 gospels?

See you tomorrow!

Matthew 27 and 28

Hello everyone :)

I hope you had a great weekend :) Your reading for tonight is:

Matthew 27:50-end, and 28

These verses talk about what happened right after Christ's death, and then the resurrection of Christ. Read carefully through these verses and try your best to understand all that happened. There will be a "pop quiz" on Monday {don't worry you won't be graded on it}, but the more you know, the more "blessings" you will receive :)

See you all tomorrow hopefully! We missed those of you who weren't here last week!

Matthew 26

Hey all :)

It was wonderful to hear from you all today and share in your testimonies.

Your reading for tonight is:

Matthew 26:30-end

This section will deal mainly with Gethsemane/Christ's atonement and the crucifixion. While reading through these verses, is there anything that sticks out to you personally? Maybe something that you have not read/heard before? When we study the scriptures {really study}, then no matter how common the topic may seem, or how often we have heard the story, your Heavenly Father will teach you something new each time you read. You will receive personal revelation for this specific time in your life, and something that will help you in the here and now.

I will see you tomorrow :)

Matthew 26

Hello everyone :)

It was wonderful to hear your thoughts and testimony about the talks you read from conference. There will come a day when that talk can help you specifically, if you will but remember what you have learned.

Your reading for tonight is:

Matthew 26: 1-29

This is the benefit of reading the blog :) You find you only have to read parts! While reading through this chapter we will receive insights from Matthew on what happened to Christ during those last hours. Before we reach Gethsemane and the crucifixion, we will learn of one more thing that Christ left with the apostles. This was to replace the law given to Adam and Eve on the sacrifices done in the temple. What did he leave with them? Of what benefit can this be to us?

I will hopefully see you all tomorrow :)

Matthew 23

Hello everyone :)

Tonight's reading is:

Matthew 23

Christ makes a lot of references here to things that we are not familiar with in our day, so I am just going to post some helps today. Hopefully this will be useful as you study your scriptures tonight :)

Scripture Helps:

Bid you observe:  Invite you to obey.
Grievous to be borne:  Tasks difficult to achieve.
Exalt:  Lift up above others.
Abased:  Brought down.
Suffer:  Allow
Devour widow's houses:  Take away the homes of widows
Pretence:  Outward show
Compass:  Travel
Proselyte:  Convert
Twofold more:  Twice as much
Sanctifieth:  Makes holy
Mint, anise, cummin:  Spices.
Garnish:  Decorate.
Fill ye up then the measures of your fathers:  Finish the works begun by your ancestors
Desolate:  Empty
Henceforth:  Anymore

When Christ talks of Phylacteries and "Enlarge the borders of their garments", he is referring to the garment worn by "holy men", and the tassels that they would hem on their clothes as a remembrance of God's laws. Instead of hemming a small tassel, they would hem on large tassels so that everyone could see just how "righteous" they were. It was all an outside show.

Hope these help as you study tonight!

Scripture Mastery

Hello!

For tomorrow, it would be beneficial for you to be able to recall scripture mastery phrases quickly. You can find them on the New Testament bookmark that I gave you at the beginning of the year, or your bookmark that has all four books on it.

You are looking for the ones that are just short phrases that paraphrase what is in that specific scripture mastery. You will not need to know the whole scripture mastery.

You will be able to have your cards out for tomorrows lesson, but the faster you can recognize where it is located, the better for you :)

Matthew 21: 23-46

Hello everyone!

Thanks for your participation today, even though I was obviously slightly scatterbrained today :) Your reading for tonight is:

Matthew 21: 23-46

There are two parables that we are going to discuss tomorrow.

The first is 28-31:  Who was Christ comparing the sons to in the parable? If you need some help deciphering, continue reading the next two versus and Christ explains to the chief priests.

The second is 33-41:  If Heavenly Father is the Lord of the vineyard, who might the other characters represent? Read 43, and it might help you understand what he was trying to teach by the parable. The Jews were given great gifts and promises by the Abrahamic Covenant, but what is Christ saying will happen if they continue on that same path?

Don't worry if they don't make complete sense, but you will be blessed for trying to understand it, and studying faithfully with Heavenly Father's help :)

See you tomorrow,

Sis. Findley

Matthew 15

Good evening everyone :)

Your reading for tonight is:

Matthew 15

In the beginning of this chapter, the pharisees are upset because Christ's disciples do not do what? Remember, the Pharisees started living by the "traditions of their fathers" more than by the law of Moses. How did Christ use this as a teaching opportunity? What lesson did he try to teach them in v.11?

See you tomorrow!!

Matthew 14

Hello everyone :)

I hope you had a great weekend, and that those who were sick last week are feeling much better :) Your reading for tonight is:

Matthew 14

I am all sorts of excited about this chapter. There are so many great nuggets of truth. So many great lessons to learn about being unselfish, trusting in Christ and keeping our minds on him, and there are also lessons to learn from such as trying to hide sin.

What great lesson did you learn from in this chapter? You can learn from the story of Herod and John the baptist, Christ and the multitude, Christ and his apostles and the storm. How can you apply these stories to your life? I can't wait to hear your insights tomorrow in class! There are no wrong answers when it comes to your own revelation that you receive for yourself while reading :)

See you tomorrow!

PLEASE remember your papers from you parents!

Scripture Mastery

Hello everyone :)

We are going to work on scripture mastery tomorrow, so I would like you to memorize the last two that we have gone over in class from Matthew.

Now, I made a big deal about making sure you all looked on the blog and how important it is. So I am letting you know, that if you took the time to check out the blog today, then if you come to class tomorrow with the 1st two SM memorized, then you will get 5 papers for the drawing tomorrow :)

Good luck with your memorizing! One key that is helpful to remembering these scripture mastery is to find out what they mean. What are we supposed to learn from them? When you find that out, I promise it will help you to remember them much easier. Not to mention, they become much more useful, for missionary work and for your own life, when you know what they mean. What is the point of memorizing a scripture you will never be able to recall because you never took the time to find out what it meant?

See you tomorrow!

Matthew 13

Hello everyone!

In Matthew 13, he has bundled up a bunch of Christ's parables, just as he did when he bundled up some of Christ's miracles into 2 chapters. He likes to keep his topics together. Your reading for tonight then is:

Matthew 13

While reading, make note of the many parables that Matthew records. Choose just one parable and see if you can't decipher what Christ was trying to teach.

Christ would often use parables because it allowed him to reveal great truths to those who were spiritually in tune and, at the same time, conceal or hide those truths from those who were not ready for them. When we take the time to study these parables, we are showing our Heavenly Father that we are ready and willing to learn his great truths and the spirit will help us to understand them.

Scripture helps:

Sow:  To plant
Way side:  Hard ground that has been walked on (such as a path or road)
Devoured:  Ate
Withered away:  Died
Perceive:  Notice, be aware of
Waxed gross:  Grown hard and insensitive
Anon:  Sincerely
Dureth:  Continues
Tribulation:  Troubles
Deceitfulness:  False promises
Tares:  Weeds
Utter:  Speak
Iniquity:  Sin
Wailing:  Mournful crying
Vessels:  Containers (for safekeeping)
Scribe:  One who diligently studies the scriptures
Save:  Except

Can't wait to hear what you get from these parables :)

Matthew 10

Hello everyone!

I hope you had an awesome weekend :) Hopefully you feel rejuvenated and ready to take some time again to study the scriptures and learn what we can tomorrow :) Your reading for tonight is:

Matthew 10

In this chapter, Christ sets apart and anoints the 12 apostles. Who are the 12 that he chooses? What advice/instruction does he give them throughout all of chapter 10? Why is it important for the 12 to receive special instruction after they received priesthood keys? How has the priesthood blessed your life?

SCRIPTURE HELPS:

Surname:  Family name
Betrayed:  Turned against
House of Israel:  Descendants of Israel (Jacob)
Provide neither:  Do not take
Purse:  A cloth belt with pockets for money
Staves:  Staffs used when walking
Worthy:  Honorable

Salute it:  Greet it, say hello
It shall be more tolerable:  The punishment will be less
Scourge:  Beat or whip
Endureth:  Does not give up
Beelzebub:  The devil

Matthew 9

Hello everyone!

Thank you for all your participation, and a shout out because we had almost 100%  attendance today :) Tomorrow we will finish talking about the miracles, and then we will talk about the rest of Chapter 9. So, your reading for tonight is:

Matthew 9

There are so many great nuggets of truth in Chapter 9 and I hope we can get to them all tomorrow :) Pay close attention to Matthew. What was his occupation when Christ called him to be a disciple and follow him? What can you learn about his occupation through the foot notes and the bible dictionary?

Next, What was Christ's answer when he was asked why his disciples don't fast, but the Pharisees do? We can learn a lot about the purpose of fasting from his answer to them :)

Hope to see you all there tomorrow!! Remember we have our drawing so be on time and do your reading so that you can have an extra chance at winning something super awesome :)

If you need scripture helps for chapter 9, they are on the post for yesterday :)

Matthew 8 and 9

Hello everyone :)

It was so wonderful to see you all today, and of course, we missed those of you who were not able to make it :) Your reading for tonight is:

Matthew 8 and 9

Matthew liked to organize his Gospel account by topic rather than by chronological order, so he packed most of Christ's miracles into chapters 8-10. While reading chapter 8 and 9, make special note of the miracles he performed and what he asked of them after he performed them. What do we learn about Christ's power? Do we have that power here on earth now?

Scripture helps:

Chapter 8

Leper, leprosy:  Leprosy refers to various diseases of the skin, tissues, or neres
centurion:  A leader in the Roman army in charge of 100 soldiers
Palsy:  A disease that left a person disabled.
Grievously tormented:  In terrible pain
Even:  Evening
Infirmities:  Weaknesses
Bare:  Carried
Perish, perished:  Die
Rebuked:  Commanded to quit
Torment:  Punish
Swine:  Pigs
Besought:  Asked
Befallen:  Happened

Chapter 9

His own city:  Capernaum
Blasphemeth:  Speaks irreverently about sacred things
Thence:  There
Receipt of customs:  Place to collect taxes
Sat at meat:  Was eating a meal
Publicans:  Tax collectors
Oft:  Many times (short for often)
Children of the bridechamber:  Wedding guests
Bridegroom: Man who is getting married (often symbolic of Christ, and the woman is the church. We should be devoted to him and cleave unto him)
Garment:  Piece of clothing
Rent:  Tear
Minstrels:  People who play music
Give place:  Make room
Laughed him to scorn:  Made fun of him, were disrespectful
Dumb:  Cannot speak
Moved with compassion:  Felt kind, loving feelings; felt sorry
Fainted:  Discouraged, weary
Plenteous:  Many

Wow! That was a lot of scripture helps today :) I hope at least one person is using these :)

Matthew 7

Hello everyone!

We missed a few of you today! I hope everything is ok, and that we will see you soon :) For those who were there, I always love seeing your beautiful faces :) Your reading for tonight is:

Matthew 6:9-13 and Matthew 7

In these versus we learn more about what a prayer should consist of, and sometimes what it shouldn't consist of :) Make a list of those things that we should and shouldn't do when it comes to prayer. What does The Lord want us to know about prayer?

Scripture Helps:

What measure ye mete:  The way you measure (or judge) things.
Rend:  Tear or rip
This is the law and the prophets:  This is what the scriptures teach (basically the Old Testament)
Strait:  Narrow

Work iniquity:  Do evil things
Liken:  Compare
Founded:  Built

Lets learn a little more about prayer tomorrow together. Thank you for participating so well today! I hope we have an equally wonderful time tomorrow :)

Welcome Back!

Hello everyone!

I am so excited to get started on the New Testament, and what a great opportunity we have to learn together :) I have already enjoyed getting to know some of you a little better, and hope to get to know the rest of you as well!

Your reading assignment for today is Matthew 1

Is there anything that stands out to you about Joseph's reaction to Mary being pregnant?

Here are the scripture helps found in the Student Manual:

Found with child (v. 18) -- Going to have a baby, pregnant
Be with child (v.23) -- Going to have a baby, pregnant
Of the Holy Ghost (v. 18) - It happened by the power of the Holy Ghost (but he is not the father)
Just (v. 19) -- Righteous
Being interpreted as (v.23) -- Means, is translated.
Knew her not (v. 25) -- Did not have any sexual relations with her

Hope those help with the reading!

I will see you tomorrow bright and early :)

Hey guys :)

For anyone needing to do makeup work, please follow these instructions:

Go through the blog and find days, and reading that you may not have done. Do the reading assigned for that day, and then answer the question that is almost always posted with the reading.

After you have done that, you can email me your makeup work at:

ruby.findley@gmail.com

If you are not sure how many days you need to make up, feel free to email me, and I can let you know so that you can get full credit for this year. '

You put in all this effort this year, I wouldn't want any of it to go to waste if you just needed 3 or 4 days of makeup work to make the year count, so I will help you in any way I can!

Have a great summer!

Hello everyone!

Thank you for your participation today :) It is always appreciated!

Your reading for tonight is:

Malachi 3

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Hello everyone :)

You guys are amazing! I think only about 2 or 3 were late today out of over 25. Pretty incredible :)

Your reading for tonight is:

Zechariah 12-14

Today we talked about how the Jews would react to seeing Christ's wounds and knowing that he is the Redeemer, but there are many things in these chapters about the second coming and millenium. This is more of a list of the happy aspects, not so much the scary ones, which is why we are going to go over these chapters. I feel like we deserve it :) Which one of the things prophesied in these chapters is your favorite, why?

Can't wait to hear from you tomorrow!

Sis. Findley

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

Hello everyone :)

You guys did excellent today memorizing your scripture mastery :) I was very impressed :)

Your reading for tonight is:

Zechariah 12-13

While reading, utilize those study techniques that we talked about on Monday. Remember that just reading through, will not give us the extra blessings we may feel we need. It is only through prayful study that we are going to receive pertinent revelation for ourselves that will bless our lives exponentially.

What did the Lord say was going to be the reaction of the Jews during the Second Coming? Why would they react this way?

Can't wait to hear your thoughts :)

Sis. Findley

Sunday, May 6, 2012

Your reading for tonight is Ezekiel 37, especially the scripture mastery verses:

I'll see you guys tomorrow!

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Hello everyone!

Sorry about this morning! Yikes!

Your reading for tonight is:

Isaiah 53

We are talking about the scripture mastery verses, but reading the whole chapter will help us better understand the context of the scripture mastery and in turn help us better memorize its location. After you have read the chapter, go back to the scripture mastery verses 3-5 and think about what those verses mean to you, and how they impact your life?

Can't wait to hear your thoughts tomorrow...on time :)

Hello!

Ok, so the plan for tomorrow is:

Pizza Make-up party @ 12:00 pm

My address is listed on the ward website, or you can give me a call if you get lost. You can find my phone number if you click the contact info button :)

Please make sure that you bring:

- A laptop or phone that connects to the internet. You need to be able to look up the makeup days that you need to do.

- A notebook to write down your makeup work, or you can bring your laptop and type up the makeup work and then print it out and bring it to me another day. Which ever one is easier for you :)

- Your scriptures. Most of the makeup work includes reading and looking up specific scriptures.

I will have my attendance records so that I can let you know what makeup work to do, so you won't have to worry about that!

If you are coming just to join the party, please bring your scriptures so that you can help those you need the makeup work. This is a day for makeup work, not just pizza, so be ready to help serve your fellow students :)

You are more than welcome to bring any treats or drinks that you would like, to share with everyone. I will be providing the pizza, but other than that, I will leave it up to you :)

See you tomorrow!

Hello everyone!

Long time no post!

I have been thinking a lot today about the questions that you posed on revelation. How we each receive revelation can be so different that sometimes it is hard to answer, directly, how we can know if it is the spirit, or just ideas that we have.

It is true that some will feel the spirit so strong it is almost as though he was talking to them, and there was no way to deny that it was the spirit, but more often than not, the spirit will speak in a still small voice.

At one point, Oliver Cowdery wished to translate the Book of Mormon, along with the prophet Joseph Smith. It was not his time yet, and the Lord admonished him to be patient, but he also gave him a great lesson in personal revelation, and I want to share what he was told by the Lord:

"Behold, you have not understood; you have supposed that I would give it unto you when you took no though save it was to ask me.

But behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right.

But if it be not right you shall have no such feelings, but you shall have a stupor of thought that shall cause you to forget the thing which is wrong;" -D&C 9: 7-9

While you are taking the challenge to decide if promptings are from the Lord, first ask yourself if they are good. If it is something simple, follow through with it and you will know after if you have followed the spirit because you will feel joy in your work, and confirmation that you have listened to the still small voice.

If you have a concern, and you wonder if it is of the Lord, take the time to ask him if he is sending you a warning, or if it is a thought from Satan. If it is of the Lord, you will find peace and answers. If it is of Satan, you will continue to feel anxious and not find peace.

Remember, and this is important! The spirit will NEVER give you feelings that make you doubt your self worth, make you feel ashamed or worthless. Those types of feelings ALWAYS come from Satan. If there is something that needs to change, the spirit will not make us feel worthless, but will give quiet encouragement.

This is just a little more on revelation. Of course, we talked today about ALL the many resources that the Lord has given us so that he can "direct our paths". If you have questions about revelation, try seeking it out through the scriptures and through general conference talks, and of course through prayer.

I promise that, over the weekend, if you really try to learn about revelation and to pay attention to the spirit's promptings, you will learn more about revelation, and how the Lord speaks to you personally through the spirit.

I will see you all tomorrow!

For your reading tonight, I would like you to take time to memorize one of the scripture masteries to the best of your ability, and to recognize its application in your life :)

Hello everyone :)

We talked about Jeremiah today, and all the love that he had for the people. We have an amazing prophet (and apostles) today that love us (everyone in the world) just as much. That is why they spend time preparing for conference and giving us messages the Lord would have us know.

Even though their messages are from the Lord, sometimes those messages are not always received well by those in the world, and sometimes even in the church.

For your reading, I would like you to:

Choose ANY talk from the last conference. Read it over well and decide what message they are trying to give. How could people be offended by this message? What blessing do they receive if they choose to NOT be offended?

This is for EVERYONE, not just the first on the list :)

Hello everyone :)

I just wanted to say that I really loved the participation today and your thoughts on fasting. As you know, we all agreed that we are going to fast for Tyler. I think this is a really great opportunity for us to build our testimonies of fasting, but also to show our love and support for Madison. I wanted to share something with you:

"Fasting without prayer is just going hungry for 24 hours. But fasting combined with prayer brings increased spiritual power." - The blessing of a proper fast, General Conference 2004

Because we are all working on this together, I would like to invite you all to come to my house Saturday at 5:00pm, to start our fast together. I will have cookies for our "last treat" before fasting and then we can all say a prayer together to start our fast.

I hope most of you will be able to make it so that we can show our support for Madison and for each other :) I will send out my address via text so that no crazy creepers show up on my doorstep,
{ besides the ones in our class of course! :) }

And as a reminder, we will be talking about Job on Monday, so try and get a couple chapters finished so we have something to chat about :)

See you Saturday :)

The Jews have been lead by unrighteousness kings after Josiah (who we learned about today), and because the people also fell into unrighteousness they lose the Lords help and they are put into bondage. Now we pick up the story in Ezra, where king Cyrus of Persia lets the people go. He is not a member of the faith, why did he let the Lord's people go back to Jerusalem?

2 Kings 17-24

Remember, just read what you can, but don't sell yourself short. I believe in you and your capabilities :)  Also, Fy, I hope you are feeling better from your spill today, and that your head isn't hurting too much, or your pride for that matter :) We love you!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Hello everyone :)

We talked today about a new game, and I said I would put ONE name up. I have decided to change that just slightly, and now I will put THREE names up. The first one will have a chance at the candy, if they DO NOT get it because they didn't check the blog and did not do the reading, then the chance will go to the second person, and if they do not get it, then the third name will get a shot :) Now there are more chances to hopefully get someone who gets a treat :)

Ok, so your reading for tonight is:

2 Kings 6

Just one chapter, but a lot happens in it. First there will be a miracle that Elisha performs for a man in distress. Then something amazing will happen later on in the chapter when Elisha prays to Heavenly Father to "Open his eyes that he may see". What can these 2 things  teach us about the love of our Heavenly Father?

Can't wait to hear your thoughts tomorrow :) Even if your name {or what sounds like your name!} is not below, I would still love to hear from you :)

Tonight's reading is a little different than normal. I would like you to actually research, in the scriptures, something that has to do with Elijah. Who is he? What did he do? You might  even find some things in the Doctrine and Covenants as well as the Old Testament.

Bring to class anything that might help us get to know him a little better :)

Now that we know David's sad turn of events, I would like your reading to be:

Psalms

Please choose ANY chapter of psalms that you personally think perfectly shows David's reaction to repentance, his consequences and his Heavenly Father after what Nathan had told him in 2 Samuel 13. Be prepared to share in class :) you can read the sub headings of the Psalms chapters to find a good chapter but then read the whole chapter once you find one you like.

See you tomorrow :)

Hello everyone :)

Here is the reading for tomorrow:

2 Samuel 11-12

We are going to see David fall into a trap in Chapter 11, and I would like you to record each time he gets farther and farther into sin. Number each item, in chronological order so that we can take a look at maybe how he could have avoided such a terrible sin, and in turn how we can avoid sin in our lives as well :)

See you tomorrow!

Your reading for tomorrow is:

2 Samuel 3-5

Right now David is king of only the tribe of Judah, what righteous choices did he make that eventually lead him to be king over ALL Israel?

I believe in your ability to read and come up with great answers and can't wait to hear them tomorrow :)

Hey Folks,

Sorry so late, hopefully you already remembered the reading because we talked about it this morning :) Your reading for tomorrow's lesson is:

1 Samuel 17

Just one chapter, and it is the legendary story of David and Goliath! Since this is a very common story, please try and find at least 1 thing from the reading that you did NOT already know about this story. I am excited to hear what you have found :)

Hello everyone :)

I hope you are ready for another week of enlightenment :) The best way to get something from the lesson is to prepare yourself by reading. That being said, your reading for tomorrow's lesson is:

Samuel 13 and 16. You will read about a mistake that Saul makes in 13 when he takes upon himself priesthood responsibilities that are not his. What is it that he does? Then pay close attention to 1 Samuel 16:7. How does this verse relate to the mistake made in 13?

Hello everyone :)

I loved hearing about your stories of revelation received from the Lord. How grateful we should be for the wonderful guidance we can receive if we are righteous. For tomorrow, I would love to have as much participation as we did today! Your reading is:

Samuel 4-7

Why did the Philistines want to take the Ark of the Covenant? What did they think they would gain? What happened to them after they took it?

I will see you tomorrow!

Hello everyone :)

Thank you for your comments today, I always love when you guys have something to say. We all grow from your testimonies that you share :) That being said, it is much easier to share in class when you have done the reading, so I hope you find time to read:

Samuel 2 and 3

While reading, take note about the path that Samuel takes as opposed to the sons of Eli. Which path would you rather take? What choices do you need to make to stay on that path?

Thanks again for your comments, and can't wait to hear more tomorrow!

Hello everyone!

Your reading for tomorrows lesson is:

Samuel 1

It is a really short chapter but we can learn a lot from it. What was It that Hannah prayed for? Did the lord answer her prayer?

See you bright and early tomorrow!

Hello everyone!

I am back from the dead (or at least as close to back and as I could hope for at this point!), and with it comes your reading assignment for tomorrow:

Judges 1-3

It should not be a surprise to us, at this point, that the children of Israel are still finding it hard to make right choices and listen to Heavenly Father, but what specific choices are they making now? What is God's reaction to this? I am curious to see what you have read and your insight into it all :)

See you tomorrow

Hello everyone :)

I hope you had a wonderful day today with Br. Anderson and I hope to find that you all did your reading :) And speaking of reading, your assignment for this weekend is to read:

Joshua 3 and 6

The children of Israel have to prepare for war to take over the Promised Land that they have been promised. This is another test for them because they will have to put faith in the Lord that he will help them and give them strength as well as lead and guide them to victory. In chapters 3 and 6, what miracles do you find that the Lord provided for them to accomplish this task he has asked of them?

Thursday, January 5, 2012

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all reading today, if not just for yourself but for the rest of the class :) Please read:

Joshua 1

Please read this fictional letter of Joshua asking for guidance:

"My name is Joshua. I have been appointed the new leader of the children of Israel in the place of our great leader Moses, who led us out of Egypt and is now departed from us. I am completely humbles by this calling and feel very inadequate in trying to take the place of such a wonderful prophet. What advice can you offer on how I could be successful in this new role I have been called to? The people have promised to follow me in the same way they followed Moses.

Sincerely, Joshua"

Based on your reading Joshua 1, what has the Lord said to Joshua to strengthen him?

I will see you tomorrow! Hopefully you do not have assigned seats, so remind those you think might forget to do their reading :)

Hey Guys,

Before we move from Deuteronomy and Moses, lets read:

Deuteronomy 34

What similarities have you seen between Moses and Christ, from all that we have talked about him thus far? Make a list, and be prepared to share any ideas that you have in class tomorrow :)

See ya bright and early,

Sis. Findley

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Hello!

It was wonderful to see all your beautiful {and handsome} faces again today, and so wonderful to see that the majority of you had read! Keep it up! Your reading for tonight is:

Deuteronomy 13:1-10 and 18:15-22

What do you think these scriptures are talking about in relation to prophets? What are we being warned of?

I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this tomorrow :)

See you then,

Sis. Findley
